Another reason to despise George Lucas

Jim Geraghty writes that in the new Star Wars movie, Episode III, toy marketer and once-popular director George Lucas implies that George W. Bush is on the dark side of the Force:

I read in a comment under the Libertas posting that the new film has recently-turned-badguy Anakin scream, "You are either with me or against me." I understand the novelization has him say, "Don't make me kill you, Obi-Wan. If you are not with me, you are against me." President Bush said in his post-9/11 national address, "Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists."
Geraghty unfortunately doesn't link to the Libertas comment he read (I think it's this one), or to an alleged statement by Lucas that the Imperial Stormtroopers getting crushed by primitive Ewoks in Return of the Jedi were meant to symbolize America's defeat in Vietnam.

Sheesh. As if Ewoks weren't hated enough already.

I though you were joking until I took a look a some of Anakin's quotes from Attack of the Clones. You are 100% right. Anakin is a dead ringer for Bush. Have a look.

Count Dooku: That was brave, boy, but foolish. I would have thought you'd have learned your lesson.
Anakin: I'm a slow learner.

Padme: You're not all-powerful, Ani.
Anakin: Well, I should be.

Anakin: You're asking me to be rational. I know that is something I cannot do.

Padme: You're not all-powerful, Ani.
Anakin: Well, I should be.

Anakin: I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here everything is soft and smooth.

No doubt about it. As if further proof were necessary:

Anakin:

"Someday, I will be the most powerful Jedi ever!"

"Sometimes when you believe something to be real, it becomes real"

"This is my first assignment on my own . . . Don't worry, we have R2 with us."

If we're comparing real life people to Stupid Wars characters I nominate George Lucas as Jabba the Hutt. Only fatter. And perhaps in the Stupid Wars landscape, Jabba could actually direct actors. Also Lucas' adopted mutts from around the world that he calls his kids remind me of the bar scene from the original movie.

Mark 12:10 - Anakin speaks the words of Jesus, not Dubya.
