I mean, we use rumors to get story ideas and cover breaking news, too. But would argue that rumors are credible?

That said, the question itself is kind of dumb. "Are blogs credible?" Well, doesn't it depend on the blog, and the blogger? Credibility is something that's earned over time, and blogs haven't been around for that long, so it's not surprising that many people don't trust them. But that's changing, I think.

I wrote a little more on this topic here .

Posted by derek roseAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9395124.post-1119518467804066642005-06-23T18:21:00.000+09:002005-06-23T18:21:00.000+09:00Good point, DWS. Maybe something like: "Do you believe everything you read in blogs?" As Glenn Reynolds implies in linking to this post, a primary point of a blog is to allow verification through links.

Posted by Don't want spamAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9395124.post-1119506204207535992005-06-23T14:56:00.000+09:002005-06-23T14:56:00.000+09:00I imagine they "use" them in the same way they use...I imagine they "use" them in the same way they use everything else - as a means to justify their poor reporting.

Most journalists don't seem to be able to get past the tripe they've been taught in college, much less the fact that anyone disagrees with "elite" opinion.

Posted by AnonymousAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9395124.post-1119500923949694562005-06-23T13:28:00.000+09:002005-06-23T13:28:00.000+09:00"I'm going to have to get a new irony detector.
